Inspections: PreAction Fire Suppression System

Preaction automatic sprinkler systems are similar to a dry-pipe system, but air pressure may or may not be used.  The main sprinkler system control valve is opened by an actuating device, which permits water to flow to the individual sprinkler heads and the system then functions as a wet-pipe system.  It is generally used in areas where piping systems are subject to mechanical damage and where it is important to prevent accidental discharge of water.
